Portland in July

On the 4th, we met up with my friend Michelle and her hubby Alex in Portland
They are moving back to England and it was great to see them!
I've never really toured Portland before (minus some breweries, Red Robin, etc from school trips)
so it was fun to see what else there was

We went to Powell's Bookstore- I wish we could have
spent the whole day there! So many rooms and so many books!
sigh....

Jake's Grill was okay- definetely not the best food I've ever tasted
but the company was great!
And yes- Spencer is showing off his gum in this picture...
The next place on our list was the rose garden.
According to Alex's map- it was about 20 blocks away or so...
That was a hike I think I can do without next time.

Once we got there- it was super pretty!
I love roses and pretty much any kind of flower!!

I thought the little random water works were so cool!
And roses growing up a lampost?! Made me think
of Chronicles of Narnia...
The best part was the trak back to Pioneer Square, where our car was parked.
It was tons of fun to see Michelle, I think next time though- I'm game
to take the car a few more places, or just go shopping!

Toes in the Sand...

Memorial weekend Spencer had to go to the beach...
It was super windy, but tons of fun!
Longbeach is an interesting little town

Did I mention it was windy?!

Spencer was trying to make his towel a kite...
Very odd...what's the point of a huge frying pan?
The icrecream there was pretty delish!! There was also
a cute little bookstore, of course we had to buy a
baseball book...

Ooops...

Spencer was so excited to weed-wack our lawn...

While the cracking continued to spread - it sounded like rain.

And for some reason he hasn't weed wacked since...

Sacajawea Lake

In the middle of Longview is this cool lake.
There's a path and bridges all across it - I think it's about
3 miles-ish around. We ran around it one night  but afterwards Spencer decided I wasn't allowed to go by
myself- there are strange people that hang out there (as well as everywhere else in Longview)...
We love to hang out there and just chill....or eat
In July they had a cardboard boat regata. It was a sight! Engineers had put hours into some of these boats. They were pretty cool to see.  I think I've almost convinced Spencer we should try it next year.
Throughout the lake are these fountains...they're pretty
We went to a "music on the lake" thing.  Where there was a live band and tons of people. Here I am trying to culture Spencer...and what does he bring?! A sports book...sigh...

Moving to Kelso

Moving to Kelso, WA has def been an interesting experience..
1. Walmart and every other store has homeless people outside
2. My ward has most of the assisted living homes in it...aka older ward
3. I have a garden!!!
4. I have my own washer/dryer!!!
5. Learning how to fix the washer already...
6. I spend a lot of time with Spencer- there's nothing else to do
7. My house is 3x what my apartment was!
8. I love Netflix and Pandora!
9. It's very scenic here
10. My husband loves me! (he brings me flowers whenever he can)
